Surgeon and postgraduate researcher Sunnatulo Sharifzoda from Dushanbe's Emergency Medical Center has been awarded a gold medal at the 16th International Invention Fair in the Middle East, held in Kuwait. He also received a bronze medal for presenting a new treatment method.
The young scientist showcased a surgical clamp of his own design — a specialized instrument for reliable fixation and elevation of the uterus during gynecological procedures. The idea came from real surgical practice: existing tools often fail to provide sufficient stability in complex cases. The new clamp reduces the risk of tissue damage, improves the surgeon's view of the operating field, and shortens procedure time.
Sharifzoda presented his project wearing a traditional Tajik skullcap, which drew genuine curiosity from jury members and participants alike. The encouraging words — "Tajikistan, forward!" — left a lasting impression on the young inventor.
He plans to continue developing surgical innovations, including tools for minimally invasive surgery and improved methods for treating abdominal inflammatory conditions.
